The Philadelphia Eagles have signed free agent linebacker Deontae Skinner, according to an official release from the team.

The 24-year-old Skinner measures in at 6-2, 250 pounds. After going undrafted out of Mississippi State in the 2014 NFL Draft, Skinner signed with the New England Patriots. He spent the summer with the Patriots before bouncing between the practice squad and the active roster multiple times in the regular season. Skinner was with New England during the team's Super Bowl run, but the Patriots released him in early May. Skinner started one games for the Patriots. He's recorded one sack and six tackles in seven NFL games played.

The Eagles had an open roster spot after waiving two injured players earlier on Friday. Philadelphia has been dealing with some injury issues at inside and outside linebacker so Skinner give the team some extra depth.
