Geno Smith Injury: New York Jets quarterback suffers broken jaw after being sucker punched in the face

In what is probably the most New York Jets story ever, Jets quarterback Geno Smith suffered a broken jaw after being sucker punched in the locker room by teammate IK Enemkpali. Head coach Todd Bowles confirmed the story. Enemkpali was immediately released. What a crazy story.

A few brief thoughts:

• This has an impact on the Philadelphia Eagles. The Birds are scheduled to play the Jets in Week 3 of the 2015 NFL regular season. The game is scheduled to take place on Sunday, Sept. 27. That's about six and a half weeks away from now. It seems like there's a chance Smith could miss that game. If that's the case, Ryan Fitzpatrick will likely take Smith's place. The Eagles beat the Texans last year when Fitzpatrick was starting for Houston.

• This situation would never happen on Chip Kelly's Eagles. #culture

• For all that talk about how Kelly doesn't relate to his players, well, at least he keeps them under control.

• Ladies and gentlemen, the New York Jets.
