FOXSports1 NFL reporter Alex Marvez had some interesting things to say about the Evan Mathis situation in a recent appearance on a Miami radio show. Via CBS Miami:

"Evan Mathis is the guy to continue to watch because he has not shown up at the Eagles offseason workout program," Marvez said on the Marc Hochman Show with Zach Krantz. "Essentially Evan Mathis is frozen. I wouldn’t be surprised after the minicamp takes place if the Dolphins make a call to the Eagles to see what can be done to potentially acquire Evan Mathis.
"Evan is a really good player who’s in his 30s — he’s also represented if I’m not mistaken by Drew Rosenhaus which doesn’t hurt things having him locally either. I just have to think Evan Mathis is the guy who could be available for trade and might not even cost you that much to get him."
Mathis has chosen not to attend Philadelphia's voluntary offseason workouts this year. The 33-year-old veteran is reportedly seeking a new contract. The Eagles don't seem to be willing to pay Mathis, but they have made him available in a trade. Rosenhaus recently said he thought the Eagles were going to trade Mathis before the 2015 NFL Draft, but a potential deal fell through.
Speaking of Rosenhaus, the agent also said he doesn't think the Dolphins are a strong possibility. "We’ve never really gotten close on a trade with the Dolphins," he stated. Maybe Marvez expects that to change. Miami could be a team to watch.
The next key date in the Mathis saga is Tuesday, June 16. The veteran blocker is required to show up to Philadelphia's three-day mandatory minicamp or else face a fine for each day missed.
