According to an official release, the Philadelphia Eagles have released wide receiver Will Murphy and signed defensive end Frank Mays. This obviously isn't a major roster move by any means.
Must Reads
Murphy, who used to play for Chip Kelly at Oregon, has spent the last two seasons on Philadelphia's offseason roster before also spending time on the Eagles practice squad. He was a fine practice player but he didn't show much NFL potential. So I guess this is anti-Oregon Bias?!!?
As for Mays, the Eagles signed him as an undrafted free agent last year before waiving him later in the summer. He measures in at 6-9, 291 so he's a pretty big guy. Bleeding Green Nation profiled Mays last offseason. He's a pretty interesting guy.
The Eagles are already a little crowded at defensive end, especially after selecting the 6-9, 300 pound Brian Mihalik in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Mays will be a long shot to make the team but perhaps he could fight for a practice squad spot this year.
