Nelson Agholor will win 2015 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, says ESPN draft expert

Could it happen?

Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports

Eagles 2015 first round pick Nelson Agholor is already generating some offseason buzz. In an appearance on ESPN, draft analyst Todd McShay predicted that the former USC wide receiver will be the 2015 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

It turns out that the oddmakers don't necessarily disagree. According to Bovada, the Eagles' rookie pass catcher is tied for the eighth best OROY odds at 14/1. Amari Cooper of the Oakland Raiders and Kevin White of the Chicago Bears are the only two receivers with better chances.

Last year it was Jordan Matthews who ranked with the eighth best OROY odds, though he was only favored at 16/1 compared to Agholor's 14/1. Matthews went on to have a very good rookie season but not good enough to beat out New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. As it turns out, Beckham originally actually had the same chances as Matthews at 16/1.

It would seem Agholor has a decent chance to win. He should be able to contribute immediately considering how thin the Eagles are at wide receiver. His competition might be stiffer than last year, however, when quarterbacks and running backs didn't go so early in the first round. The likes of Gurley/Gordon/Mariota/Winston could be tough to beat.
