2016 NFL Mock Draft: Eagles draft a safety in the first round

Because it's never too early to look ahead to next year.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

One of the best things about the NFL Draft being over is that it means there are no more mock drafts.

OR SO YOU THOUGHT! That's right, we already have a 2016 mock draft to look at for next year's class.

I personally love the idea of a 2016 mock at this time of the year because it's hilarious. It's just like the power rankings that get released seconds after the Super Bowl ends (yes, those do actually take place).

This mock comes to us SB Nation's Dan Kadar. The draft order is based on the latest Super Bowl odds. The Eagles are picking at 26, which would mean Philadelphia not only makes the playoffs but actually wins a post-season game as well. Unless they lose after having a bye. But I digress.

The pick is Su'a Cravens, who is a safety/linebacker from USC. At a very, very basic level this pick already makes sense because the Eagles need a safety and Cravens would fit Chip Kelly's Pac-12 bias. The 19-year-old sophomore measures in at 6-1, 225 pounds. In two seasons with the Trojans, Cravens has amassed 120 total tackles, five sacks, seven interceptions, 10 passes defensed, and one forced fumble.

So there you have it. A 2016 NFL mock draft.

(I'm so sorry. I'm not. But I am.)
