Chris Chester, Falcons agree on contract after Eagles showed interest

So much for that.

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

According to a report from Vaughn McClure of ESPN, veteran offensive lineman Chris Chester will not be signing with the Philadelphia Eagles. Instead, Chester has agreed to a deal with the Atlanta Falcons.

A report from Adam Caplan on Friday afternoon indicated that the Eagles and the Falcons were the two teams in the mix for the veteran. Chester just recently became a free agent earlier this week after being released by the Washington Redskins.

It's not as if the Eagles desperately needed Chester, but the team still does have question marks along the offensive line. The fact that Evan Mathis is missing voluntary workouts is obviously a bit of a concern as Philadelphia's projected starters at guard currently include Allen Barbre and Matt Tobin. It's unclear if/when Mathis will return to the team. It's worth noting mandatory minicamp begins on June 16 and Mathis will be fined if he doesn't show up.
