The Eagles made no shortage of surprising moves this offseason. Included in that bunch was the re-signing of one of their own players: Brandon Graham. Many thought Philadelphia's former first round pick would test free agency and sign with a team that plays a 4-3 defense.
But that didn't happen. Instead, the Eagles offered Graham a long-term contract to be one of their two starting outside linebackers. Graham has excelled in limited playing time while coming off the bench but now he'll be full on replacing Trent Cole.
In preparation for this new challenge, it seems Graham has been attacking the offseason harder than ever. According to a post from his Instagram page, he's lost some weight (a combined 25 pounds between him and his wife):
"Thank you @leanmeals_la for helping me @teamgraham_llc drop a total of 25lbs together during this off season. Looking forward to working with you in the future. Now I can get back to Philly & really get to work. #Eagles"
Graham is currently listed at 265 on the Eagles' official website, but the accuracy of that number is unclear. Graham has always been a little stockier for a 3-4 outside linebacker since he used to be a 4-3 defensive end, but now it seems he's embracing the 3-4 mold.
It'll be interesting to see how Graham performs in a starting role. A player that was once considered to be a bust could now be very important to the Eagles pass rush.
