The league has officially announced their tentative 2015 NFL preseason schedule. Exact dates aren't known yet, but the listing includes which teams will be playing and the week it will take place.
Must Reads
Here's the entire Philadelphia Eagles 2015 preseason slate.
Week 1 - vs. Indianapolis Colts (Aug. 13-17)
Week 2 - vs. Baltimore Ravens (Aug. 20-24)
Week 3 - @ Green Bay Packers (Aug. 27-31)
Week 4 - @ New York Jets (Sept. 3-4)
Important preseason schedule analysis:
The Eagles are starting the preseason off against the Colts. As you can recall, these two teams played in Week 2 last year. Cody Parkey hit the game-winning field goal against his former team.
The Ravens aren't too far away so this works well for both sides. Out of conference, too.
The Packers... that's an interesting one because they're both NFC teams. The Eagles have made the trip to Green Bay the past two regular seasons. They won't play the Packers in the regular season this year but the two teams will meet up in August. It's also interesting because the third preseason game is the most significant one since the starters typically play at least the first half and into the third quarter.
The preseason wraps up with the annual backup bowl tradition with the New York Jets. This will be 15th consecutive year the Eagles finish preseason versus the Jets. The two teams have played in 29 of the last 30 preseasons (and twice in 1992).
On a different note, you may notice that the Eagles are not playing the Patriots in the preseason. The Eagles have held joint training camp practices with New England the past two summers but it looks like the teams won't be doing that this year. This makes sense because the Eagles and Patriots are scheduled to play in the 2015 NFL regular season. And possibly as soon as Week 1.
It remains to be seen if the Colts, Ravens, or Packers will be willing to have inter-squad practices this summer.
Now is as good a time as ever to bring up the Eagles' 2015 regular season opponents. The full NFL schedule won't be out for a couple weeks or so, but here is reminder as to who and where the Eagles will be playing this upcoming season.
HOME: Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals
