The 27-year-old Biggers measures in at 6-0, 185 pounds. He was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccnaeers in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft before joining the Washington Redskins in 2013.
Biggers has made 31 starts in 76 games played. Only seven of those starts have come in the last two seasons. He's recorded four interceptions, 34 passes defensed, 185 tackles, and two forced fumbles in his five-year career.
Biggers has some versatility. He lined up at the nickel cornerback in Washington's defense last season. In 2013, Biggers played at safety. The Eagles have a bigger need at safety than cornerback so perhaps the team is looking to add a veteran on the back end of their defense.
The problem with Biggers, well, is that he doesn't appear to be very good. For what it's worth, he finished as one of the worst graded defensive backs by Pro Football Focus in the past two seasons. The Eagles have seen Biggers' struggles first hand, too. In the past two years, Chip Kelly's Eagles have targeted Biggers 15 times for 13 receptions, 160 yards, and two touchdowns.
The Eagles are desperate for a new safety because they have no clear starter next to Malcolm Jenkins. Philadelphia's options are limited so Biggers could be an inexpensive veteran option worth taking a flyer on.
