"Eagles are shopping LB Mychal Kendricks. Seeking a 2nd round pick in return. Teams are balking at that price but something could happen."
This news doesn't exactly come as a surprise.
Kendricks hasn't been attending the team's voluntary offseason workouts. There was a report that Kendricks' absence was due to a planned vacation, but posts on his Instagram account reveal he has still not arrived in Philadelphia.
Kendricks trade speculation first emerged when the team announced a contract extension for veteran linebacker DeMeco Ryans. With Ryans set to return despite coming off an Achilles injury, the Eagles have a logjam at linebacker since Kiko Alonso was also acquired this offseason.
The Eagles drafted Kendricks in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He's played quite well for Philadelphia despite some injury issues. It doesn't make sense that the team is willing to get rid of him, but it seems clear they want to move on.
UPDATE: Tim McManus explains why Kendricks isn't at workouts.
Mychal Kendricks says he's stayed near home because of an illness in his family and to be with his brother while he preps for the draft.

Kendricks: "I know the Philly people will understand that because nothing comes before family, especially in a time of need."
