Just ONE more day until the 2015 NFL Draft. The rumors are heating up.
The latest one comes from ESPN's Sal Paolantonio. Via 97.5 The Fanatic:
Sal Pal just told ESPN on Sportscenter that there are 2 active teams negotiating with the Titans for #2... Chargers & Eagles... Here we go!— 975TheFanatic (@975TheFanatic) April 29, 2015
Paolantonio: "I talked to a source in Mariota's camp that this is a 2 team race. Chargers/Eagles with Browns and Rams still in the mix."— 975TheFanatic (@975TheFanatic) April 29, 2015
Paolantonio does not rule out the #Eagles on Mariota "People are saying that Chip does not have enough. But we know Chip is unconventional."— 975TheFanatic (@975TheFanatic) April 29, 2015
Paolantonio has spoken with some of Chip's firneds and even they believe that something will happen on draft day— 975TheFanatic (@975TheFanatic) April 29, 2015
Sal Pal isn't exactly delivering Earth-shattering news here. It's been long known that the Eagles (duh) and Chargers are rumored to have interest in Mariota.
It is interesting to see that Mariota's camp believes it's a two-team race. Perhaps that's really the case.
Or perhaps this is once again the Titans trying to create a market for their No. 2 overall pick.
Despite Titans' praise of Mariota, 1 big reason this isn't done: Titans aren't just taking calls about a trade -- they're making calls, too.— Jeff Darlington (@JeffDarlington) April 29, 2015
Titans want to be inside top "16 or 17" picks to insure they get impact player, so Eagles, for instance, will need to get cute at No. 20.— Jeff Darlington (@JeffDarlington) April 29, 2015
If you want my opinion, and why wouldn't you, I think the Titans are trying to get someone to jump because they're not genuinely interested in picking at No. 2. They're hoping a team gets desperate and tries to trade up for Mariota. These teams seeking Mariota could call the Titans' bluff and wait for the quarterback to fall a little bit, but all it takes is for one team to draft him to ruin those plans.
There are so many possible outcomes. One more day until we see how it plays out.
