2015 NFL Draft Rumors: Don't be surprised if Eagles pick Phillip Dorsett at No. 20

Are the Eagles seriously interested in the Miami pass catcher?

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

It seems like a virtual lock that the Philadelphia Eagles will draft at least one wide receiver in the 2015 NFL Draft. The team has a need at the position and this pass catcher class is said to be very talented.

According to one rumor, the Eagles may take a wide receiver as soon as Day 1. Scott Bischoff of New Era Scouting had the following to say:

"From reliable source: Do not be surprised if the Philadelphia Eagles take Miami WR Phillip Dorsett with their pick at No. 20 in Round 1."

As with any RUMOR (meaning: not a report), this should be taken with a grain of salt. Bleacher Report's Matt Miller reported a similarly-phrased rumor not too longer ago but with a different player.

In any case, this rumor does make some sense. The Eagles have shown some interest in Dorsett; the team hosted him for a pre-draft visit just last week. Here's what we wrote:

"The 22-year-old Dorsett measures in at 5-10, 185 pounds. While he doesn't have great size, he's very fast. The University of Miami senior ran a 4.33 40-yard dash at the 2015 NFL Combine. At his pro day, Dorsett clocked in at 4.29 and 4.27 seconds.

Dorsett was a productive player for the Hurricanes. He finished with 121 receptions for 2,132 yards (17.6 average) and 17 touchdowns. He also has some experience returning kicks and punts.

The Eagles are thin at wide receiver. The team has lacked a speedy deep threat since releasing DeSean Jackson and Dorsett could make sense.

Here's a scouting report on Dorsett via BGN's Mike Kaye."

Some might question the "value" of Dorsett in the first. For what it's worth, NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein has the Eagles taking the Miami wide receiver at No. 20 in his latest mock draft.
