2015 NFL Mock Draft: Baltimore Ravens pick Byron Jones

With the 26th overall pick in the 2015 Bleeding Green Nation community mock draft, Baltimore Ravens GM dceagles selects ...

David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Byron Jones, CB, Connecticut

Where to even start with this raddled Baltimore team. Their WR's are old, and RB is at best questionable and their TE's are, well they may not even have a TE worthy to start in the NFL right now. But they may have just enough on offense with your "avg" Joe Flacco to hold it down and with some a few guys like "3rd down" Marlon Brown, Kamar Aiken & Campanaro they could get by waiting on offensive picks. This class is plenty deep enough for them to find these positions (WR, RB, TE) later in the draft so onward to the pick.

This leads me though to the mighty Ravens defense which Baltimore prides their selves on. The Ravens by mid season were signing guys off the street just to have a warm body in the secondary. This has to be concerning to the coaches and I am sure they are hoping to not even deal with this again which is why Byron Jones is the way for them to go.

We all know that he is just an athletic freak of nature and he was clearly not on anyone's radar and then the combine happened. That is when all things fell in to place for this young man. He broke the NFL combine record for broad jump 147" (over 12'), 44 ½" vertical and on top of all this he reiterated this at his pro day where he ran a 4.4, 40 time. This is crazy and exactly what you want from your CB who measures in at 6'1" 200lbs. And we all remember his spider graph that he almost filled in completely.

Once you line Jones up across from Jimmy Smith (if he is 100% back from inury) we are talking about a dynamic duo of CB's and this could catapult the Raven's secondary to possibly one of the best in the league.

HE also has made plays on special teams in his UCONN career which is becoming more and more important in today's NFL.

You just cannot pass up on this kid this late with the issues Baltimore had last season and they need to make sure they get this problem fixed and fast. He is far from a sure thing but sometimes you just have to take a record breaking "LEAP" of faith to fix what's broken.
