Let's get to the links...
Updating the Eagles' 10 reported pre-draft visits so far - PhillyVoice
As we noted last month, if the Eagles bring in a prospect for a pre-draft visit, their chances of being drafted by Chip Kelly go up drastically. Six of the seven Eagles draft picks a year ago were among the Eagles' 30 allotted pre-draft visits, which means that it is absolutely worthwhile paying attention to who stops by the NovaCare Complex this time of year.
Player Interest List - Iggles Blitz
The fact that Jeff Stoutland ran Ali Marpet’s Pro Day workout shows special interest. The fact Stephone Anthony had dinner with Eagles staff (probably Chip Kelly & Bill Davis) prior to his Pro Day shows special interest. Neither player is a 1st round pick, but that doesn’t mean the team can’t really value them in the round where they are graded.
Miles Austin Might Actually Provide Some Value for the Philadelphia Eagles - numberFire
What Austin could be is a reliable outside pass-catcher for Sam Bradford to compliment Jordan Matthews, Zach Ertz, Riley Cooper and possibly a rookie receiver. Austin could also take some targets away from Cooper, after he was inefficient during the first year of his five-year, $22.5 million contract. Cooper had an efficiency rank in the hundreds last season, at just 0.48 Reception NEP per target. He was one of the worst receiver in football last year.
Draft Daily: Arizona St. WR Jaelen Strong - Birds 24/7
On tape, there is a rawness to Strong's game. He's far from polished, but has unique traits that will attract a lot of teams. He's also a tough evaluation because Arizona State had some terrible QB play last year. Let's start with the good. Strong's best route in the games I watched was the back-shoulder fade. He did a terrific job of turning around at the right time, adjusting to the ball and coming down with the catch. Here's an example against Arizona.
Jenkins: Eagles players not surprised by McCoy trade - NFL.com
"You look at the style of runner that Chip wants in his offense and even though Shady is one of the best backs in the league, he's not necessarily what Chip is looking for all the time," Jenkins said. "Chip thinks he's a great running back, he knows his talent is there, but our (system) is really predicated on downhill, somebody who is going to hit the hole every time. It's about getting up in the defenders face as fast as you can and that's not necessarily Shady's running style."
2015 NFL Draft: Here is what needs to happen for the Eagles to get Marcus Mariota - NJ.com
So with the draft less than a month away, what needs to happen to make Kelly's dream into a reality? Here is a breakdown of how Mariota could still end up on the Eagles
Eagle Eye: How Mathews, Murray Fit In Philly - PE.com
The Eagles made huge news to close out the opening week of free agency with the additions of the reigning rushing champion (DeMarco Murray) and a former first-round pick (Ryan Mathews). With the trade of LeSean McCoy to Buffalo, there was a need in the backfield and adding two players of their caliber sent shockwaves throughout the NFL. How would these players fit into the Eagles' offense? I went to the tape to see how Murray and Mathews will look here in Philadelphia. It’s no secret that the Eagles employ a zone-blocking scheme up front along the offensive line.
Let NFL players smoke weed - SB Nation
The time has come for the NFL to look the other way when it comes to its players smoking marijuana. Matt Ufford explains why the current system is antiquated and calls on Roger Goodell to make things right (for once).
