After losing Jeremy Maclin to the Kansas City Chiefs and failing to land New England Patriots safety Devin McCourty, the Eagles have now missed out on another free agent target: offensive lineman Orlando Franklin.

Philadelphia was reportedly "definitely involved" with the 6-7 blocker but instead he will be heading to the San Diego Chargers.
Franklin was considered to be one of the best available free agent guards. Now the Eagles will have to look elsewhere to replace right guard Todd Herremans, who was released by Philadelphia two weeks ago. Some top options left on the market include Mike Iupati and Clint Boling.
It was easy to see why the Eagles were interested in Franklin due to his combination of size and athleticism. Not to mention his ability to play both guard and tackle. Then there was also the fact that Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland coached Franklin during their time spent together at the University of Miami.
