Devin McCourty will not be signing with the Philadelphia Eagles. According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports 1, New England will be re-signing the would-be free agent safety to a new contract.
The Eagles, along with the New York Giants, were rumored to have significant interest in McCourty. Some reports indicated that Philadelphia was "all in" on him. He was a "top priority" for the Eagles.
With McCourty off the market, the Eagles will have to look elsewhere for an answer. The team is in need of a starter to pair with Malcolm Jenkins. Nate Allen is expected to leave in free agency.
Some options on the market now include Rahim Moore, Tyvon Branch, Antrel Rolle, Ron Parker, and Louis Delmas. The Eagles could have a connection with Moore considering he has experience with now-Eagles defensive backs coach Cory Undlin.
Losing out on McCourty comes at a bad time for Eagles fans who are already disappointed that Jeremy Maclin left to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs.
