2015 NFL Mock Draft: Mel Kiper 3.0

The ESPN draft analyst has the Eagles taking a defensive back in his latest mock.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. released a new 2015 NFL mock draft on Thursday. This is Kiper's Version 3.0 mock for the upcoming draft. Here's a look at Version 1.0 and Version 2.0. This time around Kiper has the Eagles taking a cornerback again, but it's a different one this time. Via ESPN In$ider:

"Jalen Collins
COLLEGE: LSU
Class: Jr
HT: 6-1
WT: 203
POS: CB

Analysis: Chip Kelly is in the midst of remaking the roster, but be it via trade or in free agency he's going to see it won't be easy to simply plug holes at cornerback, an area where the Eagles need help. Collins is a high-upside play as a cornerback with good size, reach and athletic attributes. He can play physical but also turn and run with the fastest wide receivers in the league. He's not a complete package yet, but he can press, play off and shows awareness in zone. This is a big enough need that Collins probably won't be the only CB the Eagles draft."

Collins certainly fits the profile of what Eagles like in their cornerbacks when it comes to size. Unlike Marcus Peters, he also doesn't come with significant character concerns, so that also makes the pick more realistic.

Before the 2015 NFL Combine, NFL draft analyst Mike Mayock said he likes Collins for the Eagles. Mayock ranks Collins as the second best cornerback available in this draft behind Trae Waynes at No. 1. Here's a look at Collins' spider graph:

Elsewhere in this mock, Kiper has Marcus Mariota falling to No. 6 at the New York Jets' pick. That's fairly interesting because a recent report indicates that the Jets will not pick Mariota. Instead, if he falls to No. 6, they will make a trade with the Eagles.
