Will the wide receiver hit free agency?

The Eagles are busy making big moves and clearing cap space, but impending free agent Jeremy Maclin is still waiting on a new contract with only a few days left before the NFL's "legal tampering" window. According to multiple reports, Philadelphia is not close on a deal with Maclin.

Per Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer:

"Updated info on Maclin: Deal was close for some time, not as close recently and he's getting nibbles. #Eagles have to up ante w/ McCoy leak."

Per Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports 1:

"Elsewhere on Eagles front, I really believed Jeremy Maclin would be re-signed or at least close by now. Not the case. Work to be done there."

Per Adam Caplan of ESPN (via Sheil Kapadia)

"Mr. @caplannfl on SportsCenter talking Maclin-Eagles deal: "That thing is not close."

...

A report over the weekend indicated that the Eagles and Maclin "weren't significantly far apart." But with the LeSean McCoy trade now known, it's fair to question how Maclin feels about that. Still, money talks the loudest. And the Eagles have a lot of cap space after the moves they've made in recent days.

Philadelphia passed on the opportunity to franchise tag Maclin by Monday's 4:00 PM deadline. There are still six days until the official start of NFL free agency on March 10, so there is still time for a deal to get done. If not, Maclin will become a free agent and draw a lot of attention on the open market.
