DeMarco Murray might not be the only former Dallas Cowboys player to sign with the Philadelphia this offseason. According to a report from NFL media's Ian Rapoport, the Eagles are scheduled to host free agent wide receiver Miles Austin for a visit.
The 30-year-old veteran is a native of Summitt, New Jersey. Austin attended Monmouth college before signing with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent following the 2006 NFL Draft. Austin spent eight seasons with Dallas. The Cowboys released him after the 2013 season and he played for the Cleveland Browns in 2014.
In his nine-year career, Austin has recorded 348 receptions for 5,049 yards (14.5 average) and 36 touchdowns. He's also gained 94 yards and one touchdown on 11 rushing attempts. Austin had some productive years in Dallas before injuries derailed his career. The 6-3, 215 pound receiver has failed to play in all 16 games since 2010.
The Eagles are thin at wide receiver after losing Jeremy Maclin so it's not surprising to see them showing interest in a free agent on the market. Philadelphia is only returning three wide-outs from the 2014 season: Jordan Matthews, Josh Huff, and Riley Cooper.
While we're on the subject of Austin, here's a fun fact: Miles Austin counts $5,106,200 against the Cowboys' cap in 2015. He hasn't played there since 2013. DeMarco Murray's 2015 cap hit is $5 million.
