As many expected, Cary Williams is gone. The Eagles released him on Tuesday morning in a move that saves the team $6.5 million in cap space. It wouldn't necessarily be correct to call Williams a cap casualty, however. According to the veteran cornerback, Philadelphia didn't even ask him about altering his deal. Williams said the team wanted to move on.
Cary "The team wanted to go in a different direction."

More reactions to the release of Williams below, including how this move impacts Philadelphia's cap situation:

Cary Williams: Not as bad as everyone (me included) made him out to be but mistakes were bunched and pronounced. Adequate #2, replaceable.

How badly do you think Allen Hurns wants Cary Williams to sign with the Texans or Titans?

Will be interesting to see if Cary Williams fits back in Ravens locker room on lesser deal. Had some great moments there but drama too

Eagles must feel confident that they'll be successful shoppers in free agency.

Cary Williams he has no quarrel with organization.

Despite occasionally being a vocal critic of Chip Kelly's practices, Cary Williams said on 97.5 that he had no issues with the #Eagles.

I would say odds of Nolan Carroll starting for the Eagles next season have risen sharply.

The Eagles' 2015 adjusted cap is $159,872,378. That includes $15,715,700 in 2014 carryover. They have about $33 million available now.
