According to ESPN Insider Adam Schefter, quarterback Tim Tebow worked out for the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday morning. No, this isn't a fake report!
Must Reads
"Well, how about this: Former Broncos and Patriots QB Tim Tebow is working out today for the Philadelphia Eagles, a source confirmed."
The Eagles are confirming the visit! And you thought this offseason couldn't get any crazier!
OK, let's take a deep breath here. Just because the Eagles worked him out doesn't mean they are going to sign him. Still, it's interesting that the Birds would show interest.
The Eagles already have four quarterbacks under contract: Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez, Matt Barkley, and G.J. Kinne. Unless he's traded, Bradford figures to be the 2015 starter with Sanchez backing him up. Barkley and Kinne could be competing for a third string role. If Philadelphia signs Tebow, he would likely be thrown into that third string quarterback battle.
Tebow, a former first round pick of the Denver Broncos, hasn't been in the NFL since the Patriots released him in August 2013. He used to be teammates with Sanchez when they both played on the New York Jets in 2012.
Tebow went 8-6 as a starting quarterback in his three-year career. He's recorded 173 completions on 361 attempts (47.9%) for 2,422 yards, 17 touchdowns, nine interceptions, and a 75.3 passer rating. He's also rushed for 989 yards and 12 touchdowns but has 15 fumbles.
It seems Tebow left Philadelphia without a deal so it's very possible the team won't sign him. But it can't be ruled out.
Tebowmania!
