According to Rob Rang of CBS Sports, the Eagles met with 2015 NFL Draft prospect quarterback Brett Hundley on Wednesday for a private workout and film session.
To clarify: this wasn't a case of Hundley visiting for an official pre-draft visit. And Chip Kelly obviously wasn't meeting with Hundley considering he was busy giving a press conference in Philadelphia yesterday.
Still, this is at least a little interesting considering the Eagles just traded for Sam Bradford on Tuesday. They also have Mark Sanchez signed through 2016 and Matt Barkley remains on the roster (for now).
It's also a little interesting because the Eagles have been connected to Hundley a couple of times already this offseason. Rumors back in late January indicated Philadelphia is "hot for Hundley" and that the team could be targeting him in the first or second round. (As an aside, those same rumors indicated Nick Foles would be traded, which obviously happened).
At the 2015 NFL Combine, Hundley met with the media and talked about how Chip Kelly recruited him to Oregon. The 21-year-old quarterback was asked about which NFL offenses are similar to the one he ran at UCLA and he mentioned the Eagles. He specifically cited "zone reads" and "pass concepts that match up like ours" as the similarities.' Hundley also confirmed he met with Eagles quarterback coach Ryan Day at the Combine.
Just because the Eagles are showing interest doesn't necessarily mean they're going to draft him. But they are doing a lot of homework on him, and that's worth noting.
