One of the many big story lines in free agency has been where will DeMarco Murray, who led the league in rushing, wind up. Would he stay in Dallas? Would he take a big pay day in Jacksonville or Oakland? Or wind up somewhere unexpected? That just may happen. Throughout the day on Wednesday, the Eagles were rumored to be a team that had interest in Murray. When the Eagles signed Ryan Mathews, the rumors didn't stop. Then as more information came in, it turns out that Murray called Chip Kelly. The story got bigger, it turns out current Eagles are campaigning for Murray to sign with them. As the day progressed, there were conflicting reports that Murray would either decide Wednesday night where he was signing, or start visiting teams on Thursday. It appears the latter is correct.
Adam Schefter reports that DeMarco Murray will visit the Eagles tomorrow.
It's on: Cowboys free-agent RB DeMarco Murray is flying to Philadelphia to meet Eagles officials on Thursday, per league source.

This is a very interesting development. With Ryan Mathews, Darren Sproles and Chris Polk on the roster, and with what is widely considered a very deep draft for running backs, adding another veteran, another one with an injury history, seems particularly aggressive. But then, Chip Kelly has been particularly aggressive in free agency so far. Or perhaps this is just gamesmanship by Chip Kelly to try to get the Cowboys, who continue to have salary cap problems, to panic and overpay Murray?
This is the battle Murray needed to start inflating his price. He got it. And he and his agent helped create it. Sometimes, it works.
