If you're hoping that a trade for Sam Bradford will seemingly lead to Marcus Mariota, you may want to tame your expectations. It turns out that Eagles head coach Chip Kelly "came hard after Bradford," according to Sports Illustrated's Peter King.
The Eagles completed a convoluted trade on Tuesday that sent Nick Foles to St. Louis with some draft picks to acquire Bradford and a fifth round selection from the Rams. Foles will now likely be the unquestioned starter in St. Louis, while Bradford seems destined to be "the man" in Philadelphia if the report by King is accurate.
Following the initial trade report, local media and Eagles fans assumed this was a move to get into position for a trade to receive Mariota. However, this report seems to throw shade on the idea that the team could deal Bradford in a package for the Oregon passer. There is also the evidence of the mandatory 2016 second round pick that was sent to the Rams along with Foles.
