Is Marcus Mariota One of the Best QB Prospects Ever? - rotoviz
At 6’4″ and 220 lbs., Mariota has the kind of size you like to see in an NFL QB. Keeping in mind he just turned 21, he’s likely to add some size over time as well. As dangerous as Mariota has been as a passer in college, he’s possibly been even more dangerous as a rusher. For his career, he’s rushed for 6.7 yards per carry on 327 attempts. As impressive as that sounds, college rushing data also includes sacks. That his per attempt efficiency number is so high likely suggests he does not take many sacks, or at least not many big sacks, while also suggesting that he gains more than 6.6 yards per carry on true rushing attempts.
IgglesPod, Episode 5: Draft, free agency, and my dog Charlie - PhillyVoice
In the latest glorious episode of IgglesPod, Tommy Lawlor of IgglesBlitz.com and I discuss filling the roster via free agency vs the draft, some free agents of interest, and whether or not Eagles fans should been concerned with Chip Kelly and Ed Marynowitz's inexperience as NFL talent evaluators.
Hot Air? - Iggles Blitz
The offseason is a lot of fun, but one annoying part of it is all the crazy rumors and reports that pop up. The other day a local writer mentioned that the Eagles "may have interest in Jake Locker ". This feels like agent–speak 101. Agents love to leak "rumors" to writers to get their client’s names out in the media. And you never know if some other team will be fooled by this. "Chip Kelly likes Locker? Maybe we should give him a look." I prefer to think NFL teams are smarter than that, but history shows there are some teams that aren’t so bright.
Mayock: Mariota’s a Projection Unless Chip Lands Him - Birds 24/7
"Mariota is the opposite," Mayock said. "First guy in the building everyday, all those kinds of things. No problems off the field. But for everyone but Chip Kelly, he's a projection because of the type of offense he runs. From a physical trait perspective, he has everything you want. He's big, he's athletic, he's got great feet, and he's got a live arm. So on the surface, the individual components all work. The problem is he's a projection coming to the next level because of the pocket awareness, the progressions and the reads."
How Far Will Marcus Mariota Fall Before the NFL Draft? - Grantland
As anyone who’s ever chased a wheel of cheese down a grassy hill knows, once you start tumbling, you won’t be able to stop. So, where will Mariota end up come the NFL draft?
Do the Eagles need a running quarterback? One former coach says Chip Kelly absolutely does - NJ.com
"You're gonna need a running quarterback," Thomas said, "if you're gonna run this type of offense."
2015 NFL Draft Quarterback Passing Chart Project - DetroitLionsDraft
This category can produce surprising results due to some small sample sizes. Hundley’s sample only includes 34 throws, but he did throw seven touchdowns to two interceptions. Had the UCLA offense featured more pro-style concepts, maybe Hundley would have shown more sought-after skills. He certainly flashes the ability to make throws to the middle of the field.
Fan-Demonium: Moves To Be Made? - PE.com
Graham also has some tough questions to ask. Does he want to stay? I'm sure Graham loves the City of Philadelphia and playing for the Eagles, but it is possible he would prefer to play in a 4-3 scheme where he can be a defensive end that attacks upfield on virtually every snap. That's different than playing 3-4 linebacker where there are some coverage responsibilities. I don't have a good feel for this situation at all. I'm curious to see what Kelly tries to do and what Graham wants to do.
The Evster pays $1.99 to rent 'The Making of the Eagles Cheerleaders Calendar video (2005)' - The700Level
I think it’s safe to say that the three greatest moments in Philadelphia sports history are, in order: Eric Allen’s 94-yard interception return vs. the Jets, Michael Irvin getting temporarily paralyzed at the Vet, and anything Manute Bol ever did, ever. Coming in at #47 on that list, immediately following Vai Sikahema punching the goal posts at the Meadowlands, and the day the Sixers got rid of Shawn Bradley FOR-EVAH, was when the Eagles started producing lingerie calendars featuring their cheerleaders. One hundred and sixty-four spots behind that, forgotten to most Philly sports fans (and cinephiles everywhere), was the making of the calendar VIDEO, which is currently available to rent on YouTube for a cool $1.99.
The NCAA's never going to fix this rule schools can use against recruits - SB Nation
The day after National Signing Day is customarily the day when a number of college football assistants take jobs at other teams. Coaches tend to put off these moves in order to wait until recruits sign their letters of intent, which bind players and keep them from changing schools based on coaching changes. This is devious, and it's not in the best interest of the high school seniors who get duped.
