How do the Eagles get back to the Super Bowl?

The newest edition of BGN Radio is here! (Episode #82) - This episode focuses on some Eagles offseason topics and Super Bowl XLIX.

Welcome to the newest edition of BGN Radio!

BGN Radio is Bleeding Green Nation's regularly scheduled podcast. Each week some combination of Brandon Lee Gowton, Mike Kaye, James Seltzer, Patrick Wall, Dan Klausner, Matt Dering and host John Barchard will be here to talk about your beloved Philadelphia Eagles.

This episode focuses on some Eagles offseason topics and a review of Super Bowl XLIX. This episode was brought to you by Dunkin Philly.

• Episode #82 Crew: John Barchard, Matt Dering, Mike Kaye

• Yet another jam packed show!

• We welcome sports agent Greg Linton (@agentlinton) to get his perspective on free agency and the draft process.

• Plus we talk to NFL prospects Arizona State offensive lineman Jamil Douglas and University of Northern Iowa running back David Johnson

• What is going to be the magic formula for the Eagles to get back to the Super Bowl?

• Drafting the secondary vs. buying the secondary

1st round defensive backs from 2000-2014 are already very hit and miss. Drafting a safety or corner in the first round of this draft could be a lot riskier than people might think.

• Upgrading strengths, especially in a draft where it’s rich: WR, RB, OL - To build a winner, you have to continue to get richer at positions where you are already rich

• How many shutdown corners are there in the NFL? How many other teams have two great safeties or two great corners? Are safeties a dime a dozen?

• You don’t have to spend a ton of money or draft picks to be better than "bad." An average secondary doesn’t cost much.

• Offensive teams vs. defensive teams that win Super Bowl titles

• Greg Linton: "A lot of nation [draft experts] hype up guys for their agent friends and it’s not really a secret either."

• Jamil Douglas talks about going from being suspended by the team to becoming a co-captain:
"You get in trouble the first thing you hear is ‘Oh, he’s not going to be able to come back from this,’ and it made me want to prove people wrong."

David Johnson tell us his advantage amongst a rich running back draft class will be his versatility: "A lot of coaches have been telling me that's one of my strengths, being versatile, especially on third downs. A lot of these NFL teams are [utilizing pass-catching] running backs."

• Final thoughts and more!
