The Philadelphia Eagles release of Todd Herremans provoked some strong reactions on Twitter. The move wasn't totally unexpected, but for some it is a little sad to see the longest tenured Eagles no longer around. Reactions from Philly reporters, former team president Joe Banner, and former Eagles offensive lineman Jamaal Jackson below:
If I may take my reporter's cap off for a moment, there wasn't a more professional athlete in the #Eagles locker room than Todd Herremans.

Only Sisemore (155), G. Morriss (151), Tra (151), Runyan (144) & S. Walters (125) started more games at OL in Eagles history than Todd (124)

End of an era. A vey good era. RT @caplannfl: #Eagles are going to release G Todd Herremans today, source said.

Herremans, known for his legendary toughness, played with a fully torn biceps until he had to have it repaired. Played with 1 arm.
— Adam Caplan (@caplannfl) February 26, 2015
Andrew Gardner started 8 games with Herremans out last season. Was one of only 34 guards on PFF to finish with a positive rating #Eagles

Top internal option for RG is Allen Barbre. Matt Tobin struggled last season. Andrew Gardner started 8 games, has experience at the spot.

Eagles have spoken highly of Allen Barbre + Matt Tobin. I would consider Barbre the leader in the clubhouse at RG w/FA and draft remaining.

Herremans said at end of season he fully anticipated he'd be recovered from biceps injury before OTAs
— Tim McManus (@Tim_McManus) February 26, 2015
Was told last week at the NFL Scouting Combine that Todd Herremans was not interested in taking less money to stay. I’ll absolutely miss him
— Les Bowen (@LesBowen) February 26, 2015
Expect OL to be addressed in draft, too. Eagles lack young depth, 2 33+ starters. Name to watch: Oregon's Jake Fisher. Versatile, athletic
— Zach Berman (@ZBerm) February 26, 2015
Herremans brought a Runyan-like toughness to OL. One year he tore a meniscus, had surgery during bye week and was back the next week.
— Geoff Mosher (@GeoffMosherCSN) February 26, 2015
Be a little surprised if 1 of last year’s fill ins starts for Herremans. Maybe Barbre, but prominent FA or highish draftee seems more likely
— Les Bowen (@LesBowen) February 26, 2015
Allen Barbre is penciled as starting RG w/ Todd Herremans' release. #Eagles will add pieces in draft. I like Stefen Wisniewski as FA option.
— Jeff McLane (@Jeff_McLane) February 26, 2015
Only three people have played more games in an Eagles uniform and never played for another team: Jerry Sisemore, Randy Logan & Trent Cole.
— Reuben Frank (@RoobCSN) February 26, 2015
Herremans has started 124 regular season games (played in 127): 71 (LG), 23 (RG), 24 (RT), 6 (LT).
— Adam Caplan (@caplannfl) February 26, 2015
I asked Todd in October why he's been able to stay with the same team for so long. He said this:
— Reuben Frank (@RoobCSN) February 26, 2015
"Maybe I’m just good enough to hang around and not good enough to where you go looking for money from another team."
— Reuben Frank (@RoobCSN) February 26, 2015
Todd said in October he hoped to play his whole career with the Eagles: "I think it would be awesome. That would just mean a lot to me."
— Reuben Frank (@RoobCSN) February 26, 2015
Herremans recently moved his locker stall into corner furthest from exit. Asked why he said, "Anything to keep them from getting rid of me."
— Jeff McLane (@Jeff_McLane) February 26, 2015
.@RoobCSN @toddherremans this is 100% true? Todd is one of the really good guys. Eagles have been lucky to have him.
— Joe Banner (@JoeBanner13) February 26, 2015
Nooooo!!! RT @caplannfl: #Eagles are going to release G Todd Herremans today, source said.
— Jamaal Jackson (@CenterStage67) February 26, 2015
Fairly obvious prediction: The Eagles are going to big players in free agency.
