One of the more underrated needs on the Eagles roster could be at inside linebacker.
DeMeco Ryans turns 31 in July and is coming off a nasty Achilles injury suffered during Week 9 of the 2014 season. Further, the veteran is due nearly $7 million in 2015 and all of that cap space can be saved if Philadelphia decides to release him. The Eagles already have one inside linebacker spot filled by emerging difference-maker Mychal Kendricks. Perhaps it could be another Kendricks that fills the potential void left by Ryans.
Must Reads
Mychal's brother, Eric Kendricks, certainly seems excited by the possibility. Meeting with media at the 2015 NFL Combine on Friday afternoon, the UCLA linebacker said: "That would be crazy. I played with him high school at I took for granted how cool it was."
Eagles fans would have reason to get excited about a Kendricks brothers inside linebacker corps as well. The younger of the Kendricks brothers measures in at 6-0, 230 pounds and was touted by NFL draft analyst Mike Mayock as a "phenomenal, active, quick, fast inside linebacker."
Kendricks confirmed that he interviewed with the Eagles (among other teams) at the Combine this week so the interest could be mutual.
