Does Marcus Mariota want to play for the Eagles? "Yeah, why not?"

Sounds about right.

Scott Olmos-USA TODAY Sports

SHOCKER: Marcus Mariota wants to play for the Philadelphia Eagles. Don't take my word for it. The Oregon Ducks quarterback said as much during a media session at this week's 2015 NFL Combine. Via Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice:

"Yeah, why not," said Mariota when presented with the possibility. "I think that would be a fun opportunity, but this process is out of our hands, out of our control, so we'll see what happens."

OK, so this is hardly the first time Mariota has said as much. Heck, it's not even the second time. And it probably won't be the last.

The truth is that Mariota said exactly what anyone would expect him to say. As Kempski notes, Mariota's presser was fairly boring.

A few things of note, however. The first is that the Eagles did meet with Mariota at the Combine. The Oregon quarterback said he didn't specifically see Chip Kelly but he did talk with Eagles new quarterback coach Ryan Day.The second thing is that Mariota confirmed he will be participating in throwing drills, which was reported earlier this week.

It still seems like a long-shot that the Eagles will be able to land the talented prospect but that doesn't mean the Eagles won't at least try. That said, it's going to be pretty difficult. Especially if Mariota continues to impress both on and off the field:
