Is sticking with Nick Foles the bigger gamble? - BGN

Q & A - Iggles Blitz
In my post on Brett Hundley I talked about how he hadn’t done anything special in college (big wins, key comebacks, Jan 1 bowls, etc). Someone pointed out Mariota was similar to Hundley in this regard. I strongly disagree. Mariota led Oregon to the Fiesta Bowl as a Redshirt Freshman and they beat #12 Kansas State 35-17. The Ducks finished the year #2 overall. This year Mariota got Oregon to the national title game. He won the Heisman Trophy. This year Oregon hosted #7 Michigan State. The Spartans got out to a 27-18 lead in the 3rd Qtr. The Ducks scored 28 straight points and won 46-27. MSU finished the season as the #8 defense in the nation.

What a few Philly sports e-mails might reveal - Inquirer
Through requests made under The Freedom of Information Act - and with the help of a North Korean hacker - The Inquirer has obtained copies of hundreds of recent e-mails sent by prominent sports and political figures. We have published some below.

Mosher's Mailbag: Eagles' most pressing need after secondary - CSN Philly
his one’s tough because I think it’s a tie between inside linebacker and offensive line, although one can certainly argue that quarterback and wide receiver could be up there depending on how the offseason goes. Wide receiver would immediately vault to No. 1 — even ahead of the secondary — if the Eagles don’t bring back Jeremy Maclin, but I don’t see that happening.

Forward Progress: Zach Ertz - PE.com
What sophomore slump? Tight end Zach Ertz showed strong, steady growth in 2014, his second year with the team. Nearly every single one of Ertz's statistics saw a jump this past season as he worked his way even further into the Eagles' offense. He was as sure-handed as ever, dropping just two of his 86 targets this year, and had a trio of impressive touchdown catches. He also showed steady improvement in his blocking, ending the year with positive run and screen blocking grades from Pro Football Focus. Ertz finished the season as Pro Football Focus's fifth-ranked tight end in the league.

NFL Draft rumors: Tennessee Titans not interested in quarterbacks? - Music City Miracles
The other option is trade down. The Titans could take Marcus Mariota who is a very talented quarterback, and who is the player with the lowest floor of the two big quarterback prospects. The Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, and even the Cincinnati Bengals are all teams that desperately need an upgrade in quarterback both short and long term.

Sizing up the top free agents for 2015 - ESPN
Maclin is a tough one. I wouldn't be super-excited about investing in him. He's a good player but not great. He's not a pure speed guy, but he's fast. He's not a 'possession guy,' but he can move the chains. But the way free agency works is that he's ultimately a No. 2 wideout who'll probably have a chance to be paid like a No. 1. He's a player everyone wants, and if you could put him across from Larry Fitzgerald or Andre Johnson in their primes, then now you're talking. If you have Andre Holmes on other side, well, he'll be a different guy.

Maybe DeMarco Murray's birthday isn't coming at a bad time - ESPN
The amount of statistical information about the drop-off by a running back after a 400-touch season has been staggering. Of the 42 cases in NFL history in which a runner combined for more than 400 carries and catches, 35 had fewer touches, 33 had fewer yards from scrimmage, 25 averaged fewer yards per touch, 25 had fewer touchdowns and 20 played in fewer games the following season. Murray had 449 touches in 2014.

Jim Harbaugh says he didn't leave the 49ers by choice - SB Nation
Jim Harbaugh's divorce from the San Francisco 49ers wasn't a mutual parting like the team insisted, according to the man himself.
