Connor Barwin received beer from a Patriots fan as he walked off the field

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

A win over the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium was a reward good enough for most Philadelphia Eagles players on Sunday evening. But not Connor Barwin. The Eagles' starting outside linebacker got an extra prize due to his team's performance: beer. And it was from the Patriots fan! Barwin explained the story in an appearance on 94.1 WIP, via CBS Philly:

"I go out to the field and warm up by myself early and some Patriots fans—that these stadiums now have access where they’re right up on the field—and they were kind of messing with me," Barwin told the 94WIP Mike & Ike Show on Monday. "Talking about how I wasn’t going to get any sacks, we weren’t going to win, blah, blah, blah. And I just said make sure you have a beer ready for me after we win. And sure enough, we won and they had a Bud Light ready for me so I grabbed it on my way out."

"It might be a new little tradition I have," Barwin said. "We’ll see how it goes."

Cindy Webster of WIP posted a picture of the moment:

A win over the Patriots, two sacks on Tom Brady, and a free beer. Surely not a bad day for Barwin.

Kudos to the Pats fan who honored the bet.
