Eagles Injury Update: Five players miss practice

Here's an early update on the team's Week 17 injury situation.

The Philadelphia Eagles returned to practice today for the first time since their loss to the Washington Redskins. Now the team is preparing for a meaningless game against the New York Giants in Week 17. Keep in mind Tuesday is typically a light session. Here's a full update on the Eagles' injury situation, if you still care.

Jason Peters

After reportedly pulling himself from the Eagles-Washington game, Peters DID practice on Tuesday. Offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur said the team expects to him to play this week.

Byron Maxwell

Maxwell was at practice but he did not participate. On Sunday, Howard Eskin reported that the Eagles might place him on injured reserve in order to free up a roster spot. E.J. Biggers has been playing outside cornerback with Maxwell out.

Bennie Logan

Same deal as Maxwell. Eskin mentioned Logan might also be placed on injured reserve. If Logan can't play, Beau Allen will take the bulk of snaps at nose tackle once again.

Jaylen Watkins

Watkins finished out the game on Saturday, so it's unclear why he missed practice. With Maxwell out, Watkins has been playing outside cornerback when Biggers shifts to the nickel position. If Watkins can't play, the Eagles might have to give some snaps to undrafted rookie free agent Denzel Rice. Giving a young player a chance to play in this meaningless game wouldn't be a bad thing.

Josh Huff

Huff didn't practice. No word why.

Seyi Ajirotutu

The team's special teams ace suffered an ankle injury in Week 16. If he can't play, Jonathan Krause will be kept active again.

The Eagles will release their first official Week 17 injury report tomorrow on Wednesday.
