The Philadelphia Eagles signed former Villanova running back Kevin Monangai to their practice squad, according to an official announcement from the team. Monangai himself broke the news yesterday on his social media platforms.
The Eagles had an open practice squad spot after losing Stephen Morris to the Colts last week. Funny enough, Morris might actually be starting at quarterback for Indianapolis in Week 17. Crazy times.
Monangai originally signed with the Eagles as an undrafted rookie free agent shortly before training camp. The 5-8, 209 pound running back had a nice summer. He finished the preseason with 126 yards on 21 carries (6.0 average) and one touchdown. The Eagles waived him, however, in order to trim their roster down to the 75-man limit.
With Monangai back, the Eagles now have five running backs under team control: Ryan Mathews, DeMarco Murray, Darren Sproles, Kenjon Barner, and Monangai.
