Former Eagles player announces he's returning to the team

Welcome back.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

It sounds like former Eagles running back Kevin Monangai is returning to the team, according to his Instagram post on Monday morning:

Caption: they say, "the two most important days of your life are the day you're born and the day you figure out why.." i've come to realize, especially in the past year or so, that the purpose of my life isn't necessarily to achieve great things as much as it is to be an example of how God rewards those who stay faithful and diligent on the path He lays out for them, regardless of how hopeless it may appear.. it looks like there's still some pages left to write in the Philly chapter of my NFL story, couldn't have asked for a better way to end 2015 and start the new year.. Lord knows i'm ready to get back to work, all glory and praise to the Most High! #InJesusName #StayReady #TheReturn #FlyEaglesFly

Monangai also retweeted this:

When Monangai signed with the Eagles as an undrafted rookie free agent this summer, he also broke the news with Instagram so it only makes sense he'd do it like this again.

Monangai played in three preseason games with the Eagles before being waived in the cut down to 75 players. The Villanova alumnus finished the preseason with 126 yards on 21 carries (6.0 average) and one touchdown.

It's unclear whether Monangai is currently joining Philadelphia's 53-man roster or the practice squad. The Eagles are reportedly expected to free up two roster spots this week by placing Byron Maxwell and Bennie Logan on the season-ending injured reserve list.

It's interesting that the Eagles are adding another running back. The Birds are already carrying four on the active roster and they've all been active on game day.
