NFL Picks Against the Spread 2015: Week 16 Games

Here are my suggestions when trying to beat the odds.

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Before Week 16 of the 2015 NFL season schedule kicks off, I thought we would have some fun by taking a look at the spreads for this week's round of games. (Click here for NFL Week 16 picks without regard to the spread.)

Here are my suggestions when trying to beat the odds. You can find all of today's NFL betting lines and more at the SB Nation odds page via OddsShark. My record so far this season is 98-99-6 after going 11-2-1 last week. Very strong performance by me last week. I have a shot to finish the year above .500 if I can keep it going.

2015 NFL WEEK 16 PICKS AGAINST THE SPREAD

Pittsburgh Steelers (-10.5) at Baltimore Ravens: Pittsburgh's top-ranked offense is going to be too much for Baltimore to handle. The Steelers haven't scored less than 30 points since Nov. 1. The Ravens have been outscored 70 to 20 in their last two games. Pick: Steelers -10.5

San Francisco 49ers at Detroit Lions (-10): This must be wrong. The Lions certainly aren't good enough to be 10 point favorites. Oh, wait, they're playing the 49ers. That makes sense now. It's amazing how San Francisco has won four games. They have the worst point differential in the league. They rank as the worst team in the NFL per Football Outsiders. Meanwhile, the Lions are coming off a nice win in New Orleans. Pick: Lions -10

Indianapolis Colts at Miami Dolphins (-3): Yuck. I hate having to pick someone here. Neither team is very good. The Colts' quarterback situation is iffy and they're on the road ... so I guess I'll go with Miami. Pick: Dolphins -3

New England Patriots (-3.5) at New York Jets: The Jets did not look so great in Dallas last week. The good news for them is that they got an extra day of rest to prepare for New England. They'll need it. The Patriots are back on track after dropping two games in a row. I think the Jets will at least find a way to keep this within a field goal. Don't let me down, Todd Bowles. Pick: Jets +3.5

Dallas Cowboys at Buffalo Bills (-6.5): Buffalo hasn't looked so hot recently after dropping games to Philadelphia and Washington. They should be able to rebound at home against a bad Dallas team that is starting Kellen Moore. Pick: Bills -6.5

Houston Texans (-4.5) at Tennessee Titans: The AFC South is terrible. I'd like to take the Texans here, but I don't think I can trust Brandon Weeden. Plus the Titans are at home, so what the heck. Pick: Titans +4.5

Chicago Bears at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3.5): Lovie Smith is out to get revenge against the team that fired him. Or something like that. Pick: Buccaneers -3.5

Cleveland Browns at Kansas City Chiefs (-11): Andy Reid has led his team to eight straight wins. The Chiefs should be able to make it nine in a row against this uninspiring Browns team. Pick: Chiefs -11

Carolina Panthers (-7) at Atlanta Falcons: Atlanta FINALLY won a game last week. Can they keep it going? Probably not, because they have to play the Panthers. Why would anyone want to bet against Cam Newton right now? Pick: Panthers -7

Jacksonville Jaguars at New Orleans Saints (-3.5): The Saints defense is so terrible. To make matters worse for New Orleans, Drew Brees is banged up. If the Lions can win in the Superdome, I don't see why the Jaguars can't. Pick: Jaguars +3.5

St. Louis Rams at Seattle Seahawks (-13): The Seahawks are going to win this game. It's just a matter of figuring out whether they will be able to cover or not. Seattle's been playing really well lately and they're at home. They're the No. 1 overall ranked team by Football Outsiders. I'll take them. Pick: Seahawks -13

Green Bay Packers at Arizona Cardinals (-4.5): This Arizona team is the real deal. Their offense is nearly unstoppable and their defense is pretty good too. Losing Honey Badger hurts, but the Cardinals still have a lot of talent. Easy pick since they have home field advantage. Pick: Cardinals -4.5

New York Giants at Minnesota Vikings (-6.5): Not having Odell Beckham Jr. is going to be a problem for the G-Men. The Vikings should be able to have success against New York's vulnerable defense. Pick: Vikings -6.5

Cincinnati Bengals at Denver Broncos (-3.5): The Bengals were able to win on the road with AJ McCarron last week, but facing San Francisco's defense is a lot different than facing Denver's defense. I like the Broncos to win here. Pick: Broncos -3.5
