Indianapolis Colts release former Eagles guard Todd Herremans

The Herrdawg is out of a job.

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

The Indianapolis Colts officially released former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Todd Herremans on Tuesday afternoon.

The Colts signed Herremans this offseason after the Eagles released him. Philadelphia saved $2.8 million in cap space by parting ways with Herremans.

Herremans made two starts in eight appearances with Indianapolis this season. The Colts eventually benched him and more recently they've been keeping him as a healthy scratch on game day.

The 33-year-old Herremans had a long and successful career with Philadelphia. He started 124 games for the Eagles from 2005 through 2014.

It remains to be seen if the Eagles have any interest in bringing Herremans back. The veteran offensive lineman knows the scheme and could be a solid backup to have around. Herremans will likely have to clear waivers before Philadelphia has a shot to sign him.
