Jason Peters Injury: Eagles left tackle ruled out for Cowboys game

The Eagles will be without one of their best players on Sunday night.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles starting left tackle Jason Peters will not play against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. Peters was ruled questionable on the team's final injury report, but the Eagles have since officially downgraded him to "out." Peters is set to travel with the team to Dallas, but he will not play. Peters has been dealing with back spasms since leaving the Eagles' Week 7 game early.

With Peters sitting out, third-year offensive lineman Lane Johnson will start at left tackle. The Eagles view Johnson, who was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, as their future replacement for Peters so this could be an early look to the future of Philadelphia's offensive line. Johnson will have his hands full trying to block Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy.

Now that Johnson is starting on the left side, it will likely be Dennis Kelly who takes over at right tackle. Here's what the Eagles' projected starting offensive line for this week:

Left tackle - Lane Johnson
Left guard - Allen Barbre
Center - Jason Kelce
Right guard - Matt Tobin
Right tackle - Dennis Kelly
