Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford will NOT be playing against the Detroit Lions today on Thanksgiving. Instead, Mark Sanchez will make his second straight start this season. As first reported by Matt Lombardo and now confirmed by NFL insider Ian Rapoport:
The #Eagles will start QB Mark Sanchez today vs the #Lions, per @AlbertBreer & me. Sam Bradford (concussion, shoulder) sits for another week
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) November 26, 2015
Bradford has been out since suffering a concussion and separated shoulder injury during Philadelphia's Week 10 game. He has since been cleared from his concussion but the damage to his non-throwing shoulder is an issue. Bradford was a limited participant in practice leading up to the game this week.
Sanchez struggled to play well in the absence of Bradford against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The much-maligned backup quarterback threw three interceptions in the first start of this season. The Eagles really need Sanchez to come up big in this spot against the Lions.
With Bradford out and Sanchez starting, Thad Lewis will be Philadelphia's backup quarterback. Trey Burton and Josh Huff are the emergency quarterback options.
