The Philadelphia Eagles entered the bye week coming off a disappointing loss to the Carolina Panthers. Leaving the bye week, the Eagles have much more reason to be happy. The Eagles, while they were resting this weekend, got to see two of their NFC East rivals lose on Sunday.
The New York Giants lost to the Saints in New Orleans by a final score of 52 to 49. New York's defense looked helpless against the Saints' offense. Drew Brees tied the NFL single-game record for touchdown passes with seven. The Giants dropped to 4-4 with the loss, but still remain first in the NFC East. For now.
Elsewhere, the Dallas Cowboys were defeated at home by the Seattle Seahawks by a final score of 13 to 12. Dez Bryant returned to the field for the first time since suffering an injury in Week 1, but it didn't matter. The Cowboys couldn't do much against Seattle's defense. The Cowboys have now lost five games in a row since starting out the season with two wins, which puts them at 2-5.
Speaking of the Cowboys, the Eagles travel to Dallas next week for another big division game. The Eagles can get back to .500 at 4-4 with a win and also effectively end the Cowboys' season by putting them in a 2-6 hole.
