Eagles' Chip Kelly 'pleased' with Sam Bradford, won't be changing quarterbacks - NJ.com
Eagles head coach Chip Kelly gave Sam Bradford a vote of confidence Monday, less than 24 hours after the team's wide receivers did little to foster any such confidence in the team's quarterback. "No, not at all," Kelly said Monday at the NovaCare Complex when asked if he has given any thought to making a change at quarterback. "Because I think our quarterback is playing well. I think our quarterback is playing well. I'm pleased with Sam. Very pleased with Sam."
Sam Bradford hasn't been playing poorly, he's been playing like Sam Bradford - PhillyVoice
As you can see, Bradford has been playing like Bradford. And sure, his interception numbers are up, but at least two of his 10 interceptions this season have hit off the hands of his receivers -- Matthews had one against the Panthers and another against the Falcons. And, unfortunately, there's no reason to believe he'll suddenly become something he hasn't been since his sophomore season at Oklahoma (50 TD, 8 INT) when he won the Heisman. Coincidentally, Bradford twice injured his throwing shoulder early the following year and eventually elected to undergo season-ending surgery.
Good Timing - Iggles Blitz
The bye week is here and that’s a good thing. The Eagles are a bit banged up so they need some time to rest and recover. The team is also in need of a mental break. Forget about the 3-4 record for a minute and just focus on the sloppy play. Every game has been filled with mistakes. Sometimes the best way to quit making mistakes is to get your mind off them. I was listening to the radio show for Duke coach David Cutcliffe recently. He is a terrific coach and full of great wisdom. Someone in the media asked him if he talked to his team about the end of the Michigan-Michigan State game. The reporter was wondering if Cutcliffe would use that play as an example for his team. The next time Duke had to punt late in a close game, tell your punter to just fall on the ball if things go wrong. Don’t let a bad play become a disaster.
Spittin' truth: The Eagles are average at best - CSN Philly
This is not how the season was supposed to go. Not according to the experts. And certainly not if you believed Chip Kelly. He dismantled the roster and rebuilt it with his hand-picked parts. Ah, but his man-made monster has mostly lurched and stumbled so far, and it hasn’t frightened the rest of the league nearly as much as it has terrorized this very town. Just in time for Halloween. The Eagles are under .500. Boo. Here’s another scary thought: The Eagles aren’t very good. Unless you ask Kelly, who said he thinks the Eagles are “a good football team” and just “need to get things cleaned up.” They’re almost halfway through the season. At what point do you step back and admit that the mess is too big to wipe away?
Eagles-Panthers, The Day After - Birds 24/7
Frustrations are mounting within the Eagles locker room. Now seven games deep, the we’re-this-close optimism that the new-look Eagles carried with them like a security blanket has all but unraveled, replaced by a level of bewilderment at their inability to put an end to the dysfunction – particularly on offense. "Mistakes. I don't know what the reason is. We've had mistakes across the board,” said Jason Kelce. “Offensive line...everybody takes turns. I shouldn't be making mistakes at this point in my career. I should be on top of my stuff, and it's just, it's getting old real quick."
Chip Kelly's moves as GM hampering him as coach - Inquirer
Kelly continues to harp on execution and fundamentals when addressing the problems with his squad, but those are coaching principals. His offense can be quibbled with, but the turnaround of the running game and the consistency with which receivers get open prove that he remains a very good play caller. But has becoming a GM created a blind spot when it comes to evaluating his roster? He signed Murray to a contract that guarantees his full salary through 2016 and one that is $4.3 million more per year than Mathews receives. Does that change how he utilizes his running backs?
The Eagles aren’t just infuriating to watch… they’re boring, too - The 700 Level
It’s bad enough the Eagles can’t do something as simple as catch the football these days, to the point where it’s cost them in the standings. For fans, it’s infuriating to watch this team shoot itself in the foot one way or another week after week, even when they win, never quite remedying the full comedy of errors. But even if you’re not a fan – whether rooting for the opponent or have no stake in their games at all whatsoever – the Eagles are committing a far greater sin than being a mediocre football team. This squad is straight up difficult to watch right now. The Eagles are boring.
