Mychal Kendricks says he will play in Eagles vs. Panthers game

The linebacker expects to return to action this week.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Eagles inside linebacker Mychal Kendricks is going to play in Philadelphia's game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday Night Football. Kendricks informed reporters of his status as the Eagles arrived in North Carolina on Saturday afternoon.

Kendricks was ruled questionable on the team's final injury report despite being a full participant in practice all week. Kendricks has been kept out of action in recent weeks due to a hamstring injury he first suffered in Week 2 and then aggravated in Week 4.

It will be interesting to see how the Eagles split up snaps among their inside linebackers. Rookie Jordan Hicks is playing so well that it's hard to get him off the field. Veteran DeMeco Ryans, who has also been ruled questionable to play, has performed well in recent weeks. Perhaps the Eagles will use Kendricks in a limited role as they ease him back him, but that's just a guess. Kendricks is a talented player so getting him back on the field is a positive addition for Philadelphia.

Eagles versus Panthers is scheduled to kick off at 8:30 PM ET on Sunday night.
