The Philadelphia Eagles released their second official injury report in advance of their Week 6 game against the New York Giants.
The big news is that running back Ryan Mathews was added to the injury report as a limited participant. Mathews is listed with a groin injury. Mathews has been an effective rusher for the Eagles this season with 205 yards and two touchdowns on 41 carries (5.0 average). He's been more efficient than starting running back DeMarco Murray, who has recorded 130 yards and two touchdowns on 49 carries (2.7 average). It remains to be seen how serious the Mathews injury is, but it's obviously not ideal that he popped up on the injury report during the week.
Outside of Mathews, there are no changes from the team's injury report on Thursday. Rookie wide receiver Nelson Agholor, inside linebacker Kiko Alonso, inside linebacker Mychal Kendricks, and backup defensive end Brandon Bair are all still not practicing.
With Agholor potentially out, the Eagles might be forced to rely on the likes of Miles Austin and Riley Cooper more often. That's not ideal. The Eagles should look to get second-year receiver Josh Huff and tight end Zach Ertz more involved in the passing attack.
Kendricks and Alonso likely being out means Jordan Hicks and DeMeco Ryans will start on the inside. Hicks has played so well that there's no reason for him not to be on the field anyway.
UPDATE:
I now am told both #Eagles LB Mychal Kendticks (hamstring ) and WR Nelson Agholor (ankle) both out #Giants game. @FOX29philly
