QB ... or not QB?  - PhillyVoice
Petty has good size, good mobility, and a decent enough arm to be considered a legitimate early round quarterback prospect at the NFL level. Like Brett Hundley above, one thing that will scare away some teams is that he operated mainly out of the shotgun in a spread offense for the entirety of his career at Baylor. But again, that may not be as much of a negative in the eyes of Chip Kelly, who uses many of the same spread concepts as Baylor. Over his college career, Petty has thrown 61 TDs and just 10 INTs. Those numbers have to look appealing to a team that led the NFL in turnovers in 2014.

Eagles Wake-Up Call: The Trade Impact - Birds 24/7
In many instances over the past two years, it's seemed that Kelly and Roseman have had a "make it happen" relationship. In other words, they weren't really working together. Kelly would tell Roseman who he wanted (Malcolm Jenkins, Riley Cooper, Sproles) or who he didn't want (DeSean Jackson), and Roseman would work on making it happen, whether that meant calling GMs, agents, whomever. Kelly getting on the phone with other teams and discussing trade offers doesn't seem like the best idea. For one, he has no experience doing that. But also, it takes him away from other responsibilities - refining his scheme, keeping an eye on the locker room, managing his staff, etc.

Fan-Demonium: The Year In Review -
The thing that sticks out to me is how many times Maclin made clutch catches along the sideline. It might be late in the half or late in the game, but he would get his toes in and fall to the ground holding the ball securely. I would always yell at the TV for the Eagles to go snap the ball so replay couldn't check out the play, but it didn't matter. Maclin made that catch time after time and all were legit.

Coaches Update - Iggles Blitz
Tom Coughlin fired DC Perry Fewell. This is bad news for the Eagles, but good for the Giants. Fewell has a Super Bowl ring, but didn’t do a good job with their defense. They were 7th, 27th, 31st, 8th and 29th in yards allowed during his time. Only one group got inside the Top 17 for scoring defense – 12th in 2012. I hope they don’t bring back Steve Spagnuolo. He’s an assistant with the Ravens and I don’t want him coming back to the NFC East.

The rise and fall of Howie Roseman as Eagles GM - Inquirer
"The attributes that allowed him to be successful . . . and allowed him to rise quickly through the organization really hurt him when he got to the top," a former team employee said. "Howie is motivated by fear. . . . He's afraid of missing on scouts, he's afraid of missing on players, he's afraid of missing on coaches. He wants the best. Unfortunately, it leaves him and everyone else around him in a state of perpetual unrest."

Is Matt Barkley in the Eagles' plans? - The 700 Level
But the reality is we are two years into Barkley’s tenure, and we don’t really know anything about him as an NFL quarterback. That alone makes it perfectly fair to speculate over whether he’ll be in the mix moving forward.

No Eagles interview scheduled yet for Detroit's Sheldon White - CSN Philly
Detroit Lions executive vice president of football operations Martin Mayhew told reporters today that one of his top executives, Sheldon White, has no general manager interviews scheduled. The NFL Network reported Monday that White, the Lions’ vice president of pro personnel, had emerged as a candidate for the Eagles’ personnel chief job under coach Chip Kelly and was "expected to interview" for the opening.

Barry Switzer Prefers ‘Upscale, Up-Speed, Black Quarterback’ - CBS Philly
While Eagles quarterback Nick Foles has had some success running this read-option style of offense for Chip Kelly, Foles is not especially fleet of foot. So does Kelly need a running-style quarterback, like Mariota, the projected No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NFL draft? "You got to have very talented quarterback, you gotta have the ability to run and throw the football," Switzer said. "But there are quarterbacks out there that can do that too. Mariota is a great one, I admire him. I saw it when Cam Newton and those guys do it. The guy at TCU." What about Foles? "No, I don’t know enough about him," Switzer said. "I don’t see the Eagles enough, I really don’t. I don’t think Chip’s probably got his quarterback that he wants yet and that should be a priority for him."

The real value of rushing yards in the NFL - SB Nation
"The running quarterbacks always have a big effect in the passing game," said Carroll in November, "but when you're able to incorporate it, and have the opportunities to include it in the run game, it then it adds a totally different dimension to your defense, and you saw Russell execute the game plan really well of attacking the perimeter. They allowed it to happen so we just kept taking it."
