Seattle GM John Schneider spoke at Super Bowl 49 media day on Tuesday and confirmed that Fitterer interviewed with Philadelphia but he will be staying with the Seahawks. The Eagles rumored interest in Fitterer was originally reported earlier in the month. CSN Philly denied Fitterer even interviewed.
With Fitterer out of the picture, it appears the Eagles are down to two leading candidates (via CSN Philly): Miami Dolphins executive Chris Grier and Philadelphia's own assistant director of player personnel Ed Marynowitz. Tim McManus of Birds 24/7 notes that he has "not heard the same amount of buzz as others have" when it comes to Marynowitz, however. If that's the case, perhaps Grier is the sole favorite to be the job. Or not, because Jacksonville executive Chris Polian is reportedly still a "serious candidate" as well.
It seems like the Eagles are bound to make a hire sometime soon but that's just a guess. All we know for now is that it won't be Fitterer who accepts the job. Stay tuned for more updates.
