LeSean McCoy Injury: Eagles running back excused from 2015 Pro Bowl

New, comments

LeSean McCoy won't be playing in the game in Arizona next week after all.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy won't be participating in the 2015 Pro Bowl next weekend. McCoy has been excused for injury reasons. There's no cause for concern, however.

McCoy appeared to suffer a knee injury during Philadelphia's Week 17 regular season finale against the New York Giants on December 28, 2014. It didn't appear to be too serious, however, because McCoy eventually managed to walk off on his own power. After the game, head coach Chip Kelly noted that McCoy even asked to go back in but the Eagles held him out as a precaution.

Most fans won't be upset that McCoy isn't participating. No need to risk injury in a meaningless game. And it was only last year that McCoy suffered an ankle injury during the exhibition contest.

With McCoy out, the Eagles are now "only" sending six players to the 2015 Pro Bowl: offensive tackle Jason Peters, running back/punt returner Darren Sproles, center Jason Kelce, outside linebacker Connor Barwin, offensive guard Evan Mathis, and rookie kicker Cody Parkey.

The Pro Bowl game will take place on Jan. 25 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.

Meanwhile, McCoy's Pro Bowl party in Arizona is still scheduled to take place.
