The Giants are bringing back a familiar face to call their defense.

The Giants are set to welcome back Steve Spagnuolo to the organization. The team will rehire Spagnuolo as defensive coordinator, according to FOX Sports writer Mike Garafolo.

Spagnuolo left the Giants in 2009 to become the head coach of the St. Louis Rams. He posted a record of 10-38 over three seasons as a head coach and was fired in 2011. He then lasted just one season as the defensive coordinator in New Orleans before being let go. He has spent the last two seasons in Baltimore as a defensive assistant, most recently as a defensive backs coach.

Spagnuolo made a name for himself in New York by coaching their Super Bowl-winning defense. He was a coordinator for the Giants for two seasons after spending the start of his NFL career with the Eagles. He coached under Jim Johnson from 1999-2006. Spagnuolo loves to blitz and has a history of getting the most out of his defensive backs.
