NFL to host combine for veteran players in March

New, comments

The NFL will give fringe players and other veterans the opportunity to showcase their talents during a combine of their very own.

NFL veterans who have struggled to find jobs will get an opportunity to show off their skills in March. The league will host a veteran combine in Arizona, according to ProFootballTalk.

The event will feature 100 veteran players and allow for them to go through drills that are similar to the regional combines that happen during draft season. Players will need to apply to participate and will be narrowed down to the 100-player limit.

This is the first event of its kind and will allow teams and players to take advantage of an added scouting opportunity. It seems like a win for everyone involved. The players get a chance to earn a job, the teams get a chance to find diamonds in the rough, the league gets possible public relations opportunities and the media can create "feel good" stories.

The event will take place on March 22 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
