The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that running back Darren Sproles has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 2 of the 2014 NFL season.

Believe it or not, it's actually the first time Sproles has been named Offensive Player of the Week. The Eagles also pointed out that in the past 20 years, Sproles is the only NFL running back with two 50+ yard catches and a touchdown run in same game.
Sproles has obviously been very crucial to the Eagles' come-from-behind performances in the first two weeks of the season. Against the Colts, Philadelphia's veteran running back caught 7 passes for a total of 152 yards (21.7 average). Sproles also rushed for 26 yards on 4 carries including a 19-yard touchdown run.
In Sproles' first game with Eagles, he broke a career-high by rushing for 49 yards on one play. In Sproles' second game with the Eagles, he broke a career-high mark in receiving yards with 152.
Only time will tell what Sproles does from here on out, but he's already proven to be worth the price of the fifth round pick that the Eagles traded away to acquire him. You really have to wonder if the 0-2 New Orleans Saints regret trading him away.
