Mychal Kendricks Injury: Eagles linebacker ruled out with calf injury [Update]

Philadelphia starting inside linebacker Mychal Kendricks left the Eagles-Colts game early with a calf injury. Kendricks' return was ruled out.

Philadelphia Eagles starting inside linebacker Mychal Kendricks has left the team's game against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football with a calf injury. Kendricks has been ruled out and won't return.

The injury occurred late in the third quarter of the game. Kendricks walked gingerly off the field. He was eventually taken back into the locker room.

This is obviously bad news for Philadelphia. The Eagles were already thin at inside linebacker due to a season-ending pectoral injury suffered by top backup Najee Goode. Goode was placed on injured reserve earlier this week.

Much-maligned backup linebacker and special teams contributor Casey Matthews is now filling in for Kendricks. The only other inside linebacker on the Eagles roster is Emmanuel Acho. Acho was recently called up from Philadelphia's practice squad.

UPDATE - 12:38 AM EST

Mychal Kendricks is expected to be OK. The third-year linebacker confirmed he only suffered a calf spasm. Crisis averted for Philadelphia.
